Raising chickens for fresh eggs is a rewarding and enlightening experience for people of all ages. Often though, people don't know where to start and feel overwhelmed before they even begin the journey. Some jump in head first, and then for various reasons get out of the chicken experience, leaving several hens looking for new homes, or worse.

So, how does one effectively test the waters of chicken raising without the commitment?

Enter, Rent The Hen!

We take the guess work out of raising hens: We supply you with instructions on how to raise happy hens! Should you run into any issues, we are only a phone call away. If a hen should happen to pass away during your rental, we will replace it with another, as long is it didn't pass away from neglect.

We do the research: We contact your city/town and determine whether hens are allowed within your city limits, and how many at a time a person can keep if they are allowed.

We deliver: If you choose to host your own Rent The Hens in your own back yard, we deliver all the necessary supplies to you and set everything up. You don't have to shop for hens, build a coop, or go buy the feed. We bring it all to you!

If you Rent The Hen, you don't have to wait to get fresh eggs! There is a common misconception that shortly after chicks are fully feathered, they start laying eggs. The truth is, it can take up to eight months months before a hen starts laying eggs. With Rent The Hen, you get hens that are already laying fresh eggs every day. Because they will be moved from their normal setting, it will take them a couple of days to get adjusted. But once they are, you can expect at least six eggs per week per hen!

You can be a "fair weather farmer"! Because hen rentals are typically between the months of May and November, you don't have to worry about caring for your hens during the winter. When November comes around, we pick your hens back up and keep them warm and happy during the winter months at our farm. When May comes back around, we can set up a time for you to Rent The Hens again!
